All started with an Email I received from Malte Caspar, 15 years old, some weeks ago. He wrote: "You guys at Onboard have the greatest job in the world - why don´t you come and test our indoor funpark? On May 12 they are opening the new halfpipe!" Well, some phone calls later I had a flight ticket to Hamburg and a rental car, got my board out of the cellar (where I thought it would stay until next winter) and eagerly awaited my trip to Northern Germany. I don´t wanna give away too much about this weekend as you will find the complete story (featuring Xaver Hoffmann, Jan Michaelis and Benny Urban, fireworks, crazy anchorman Tobi Hammer, an epic pipe, five stag nights, supermotivated locals, a lost cell phone and many more) in Onboard issue 91 (coming out on August 31). Just one thing: Grown up in the Alpes I could hardly imagine that it would be fun riding in an indoor skiing resort but after the first drop into the pipe I had the same big smile in my face as riding powder in winter... <div class="full clearfix">The pipe at 9 in the morning - still 15 hours to ride (the park is open until midnight!!!)</div> If you don´t want to wait and pay the Snow Funpark Wittenburg (a 30 minutes drive east of Hamburg) a visit, check out http://www.snowfunpark.com!
