Intercrew Contest Report

April 12, 2007 @ 8:47 AM -

For the Easter week-end, I was looking for chocolate eggs in beautiful Sweden (why not?), which means I shamefuly missed (again) the fabulous Intercrew rendez-vous organised by my homies Bruno Rivoire and Brynild Vuilin. But I’ll try my best to gather what I heard from it and bring it to you dear readers… <div class="right_caption_image">le_spot.jpg width=283 height=190The Sunset Park In Chamrousse</div> Close to Grenoble, the resort of Chamrousse welcomed for the fourth time a good representation of what Europe counts of snowboarder crews, with a majority of French riders. The idea of this contest is a slopestyle competition between the different teams. To name a few crews : Moon crew, Bouchkail, La Cluzaz, Ho5, Psykopit, Atmo, Serre-Chevalier, Advita, les Arcs… but also Spanish crew Snowpark Division and British posse Skyrockes and the Swiss from Lokal prod. It all started with a skate session that Gap locals (big up!) JJ Roux and Benoit Thomas Javis dominated on the excellent flat ground. But it is Saturday that the contest really began, when riders discovers the very good slopestyle shaped for the occasion. The station gave carte blanche to the organisers to put together this event for snowboarder by snowboarders. <div class="right_caption_image">Atmo_crew.jpg width=283 height=190The Atmo Crew in full effet</div> Rapidly the spot got packed with riders trying to impress the judges and the public. Jerome Mathieu (HO5) had the best start, masterising all the switch BS tricks on the planet. Lukas Benachio (Bouchkail) was not far with his big butter bs 720, as well as Arthur Longo and his alley oop nose bonks on the wooden log, Bourbousson’s hand plants at the top of the tunnel, or Valerian Ducourtil’s FS 900, BS 900 and switch BS 900 … Indeed, it was difficult to give the lead to a team after the first day, ending up at the Space Junk Galery to admire some of the local artists paintings. <div class="right_caption_image">montage-nobru.jpg width=283 height=190'Nobru' Rivoire on the C-box</div> <div class="right_caption_image">JJ_Roux_Gap.jpg width=283 height=190JJ Roux proudly representing Atmo crew on the gap jump</div> The crazy night left some riders dizzy for the second day. But after a couple of mellow hours of recovering, the gap jump inspired the riders and the session went off under a glorious sunshine… Before it started to get cloudy and threatening. I twas time to do the prize giving ceremony before the rain.
